Research Goal

EUROPUBLISHING is a project driven by major European publishers with specific application requirements derived from their actual publishing business. The dynamic development in the past ten years of publishing tools for editing, layout, typesetting, image handling, printing, electronic rendering, has resulted in the use of powerful islands of mechanisation. The ongoing shift to open publishing systems together with the approaching availability of adequate communication networks promise to facilitate the transition from the separate use of these islands in one member state into flexible distributed but integrated publishing systems available all over Europe. The FAW group is engaged in two Application Pilots: - Dictionary of Art and Disclosure Fincancial Information - Distributed Catalogue Archiving and Analysis
