Research Record

1991/1992 Object-oriented programming in C++ using the application framework ET++ [35,36,37].

1992/1993 Document Management and structured documents with the focus on SGML and HyTime [24,25,30,33,34,].

1993/1994 Workflow management and electronic publishing with the focus on the use of HyTime for ensuring the interoperability of time-dependent, structured information such as workflow information [20,27,28,31,32]. See also the dissertation [22, 29].

1994/1996 Electronic Publishing, global distributed information systems and database interconnection [16,19,20,23,26]; Object-oriented programming in Java [11,17].

1996 present Open Hypermedia Systems with the focus on interoperability in OHS [1,2,6,4,7,8,10,13,18,21]; usage of user trails, link bases and software agents to support collaborative work [9,12,14,15].

Research associate at the Research Institute for Applied Knowledge Processing, Hagenberg, headed by Prof. Dr. Roland R. Wagner, being mainly involved in the European RACE-Project R2042 EUROPUBLISHING.

January 1995 - October 1996
Teaching and research associate ("Universitätsassistent") at the Department of Information Systems at the Johannes Kepler University of Linz, headed by Prof. Dr. Gerti Kappel. Teaching Information Systems in CIM (with the focus on integration and interoperability) and Object-Oriented Programming in C++ and Java; Technical head of the project WebDok (Extending World-Wide Web for Scientific Documentation) financed by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science, Traffic, and Art.

November 1996 - June 1998
Visiting research fellow in the Multimedia Group at the Department of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton, UK, headed by Prof. Wendy Hall. Grant of the Austrian National Science Foundation ("Forschungsförderungsfonds''). The main research interest lies in applying advanced database technology such as active mechanisms and advanced transaction models to open hypermedia systems. Participation in the European ESPRIT-Project 22153 MEMOIR.

July 1998 - June 1999
Teaching and research fellow in the Multimedia Group at the Department of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton, headed by Prof. Wendy Hall. The main research interests include trail based hypermedia systems and interoperability in Open Hypermedia Systems. Teaching: Distributed Computing and Networks and Multimedia Systems.
